Our first Books, Bites, & Reels Club event will feature:

Join Dr. Helen Freeh of Veritas Tutoring for an unforgettable evening of Southern hospitality, hands-on cooking, and thoughtful discussion of Harper Lee’s timeless classic.
Date: July 11, 2026 (66th anniversary of book publication)
Time: 1:00-5:00pm
Location: Private Home in Oro Valley, AZ (exact address provided for participants)
Ages: 13–18 (high school students)
Max Participants: 8
Price: $65 per student
Students must read the book before attending!
Students will learn how to make authentic Southern sweet tea, and a homemade peach pie.
- Hands-On Dessert: Fresh Peach Pie (you’ll learn to make a homemade crust [essential to deliciousness!], filling, and lattice top)
Ingredients provided.

Students will take home their own pie, new cooking confidence, and a deeper understanding of the human heart.
Evening Itinerary
- 1:00-2:15pm— Arrival, welcome, and hands-on Southern sweet tea and pie baking!
- 2:15 – 4:20 pm — Sip your tea, enjoy your homemade peach pie and other Southern appetizers while watching clips of the 1962 film starring Gregory Peck
- 4:20-5:00: Discuss the central themes of the book/film.
- 5:00-5:15: Pick up.
A perfect blend of practical skills, cultural immersion, and literary analysis.
